Description

Ritual Coffee Roasters turned this former furniture shop on the south end of the Valencia corridor into the café that started it all. It quickly became a neighborhood favorite where locals, artists, writers, and early start up founders grabbed their daily cup and settled in for inspiration. The space helped shape the community and introduced many people to what great coffee could be.

After a full remodel in 2013, the café opened into a bright and airy environment with garden touches, sunken ship style parklets, and custom design details everywhere you look. It remains the original home of Ritual Coffee Roasters and still reflects the spirit, creativity, and energy that built the brand.

I visited Ritual Coffee Roasters unexpectedly while walking down the street after lunch. I didn’t plan to stop by, but I’m glad I did. I ordered an espresso and a latte. While I drink coffee every day, I wouldn’t consider myself a coffee expert. To be honest, I couldn’t really tell much difference between their coffee and what I usually get from Peet’s Coffee. That’s not to say it was bad — the coffee was solid, just nothing that stood out to me personally. The café environment was quite nice, though. People were relaxing, reading books, and working on their laptops. It had a calm vibe that made it a comfortable place to unwind or focus. They also have two restrooms, which is convenient. Overall, I enjoyed the visit. The atmosphere was pleasant, but I didn’t find anything particularly surprising or unique about their coffee. If you’re in the area and looking for a chill spot to relax, it’s worth checking out.

One of the nicest coffee shops I've tried in the city. We ordered a cortado and a flat white. This is actually the only coffee shop we've tried in the city where the drink temperature was not scaling hot, so we were able to enjoy the drink and really taste the coffee.
